Edmonton On Brink of Elimination

Miller's Late Goal Proves Costly

Edmonton, Alberta - Connor McDavid led the Edmonton Oilers with a goal and an assist, but it wasn't enough to prevent the Vancouver Canucks from taking a 3-2 series lead with a 3-2 win in Game 5 of the second round of the playoffs.

Andrei Kuzmenko opened the scoring for the Canucks just over nine minutes into the first period, but McDavid tied it up with a power-play goal less than three minutes later. The Canucks regained the lead in the second period on a goal by Elias Pettersson, but Zach Hyman tied it up again midway through the third period.

With the game tied and just over five minutes remaining, J.T. Miller scored the eventual game-winning goal for the Canucks. The Oilers pulled goalie Jack Campbell with just over a minute remaining, but they were unable to tie the game.

The Oilers will now need to win Game 6 in Vancouver on Friday night to avoid elimination. Game 6 is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. MT.
